In this initial appointment, your provider will conduct an interview to learn more about the symptoms that are concerning you, and how they impact your daily functioning. You will be asked to share information about your psychiatric, medical, and developmental history in addition to your psychosocial background. You may be asked to fill out written assessment tools and/or complete laboratory studies. These evaluations will help your provider develop a formal diagnosis and make treatment recommendations.
These appointments will focus on psychiatric prescription management. Your provider will work with you to choose medications that effectively treat your symptoms while minimizing side effects.
Talk therapy assists individuals, families, and couples in understanding and developing healthy expression of emotions, communicating effectively in relationships, and coping with major life changes/circumstances.
Currently, Safe Space has a DBT Skills Group meeting on Wednesday evenings.
We are enrolling LGBTQI+ identifying youth and adolescents for groups beginning in the new year. Group therapy will use a variety of methods to promote positive identity formation, cultivation of hope, and coping skills for distressing feelings.
